Winning elections isn’t just about getting more seats than our opponents, it’s about getting a mandate to shape the future.
I hope KAMPI will teach us to stand our ground, explain our future decisions, face down our possible critics and together we will achieve victory through adversity.
We will hold on together. We will stay united. We will come through the fire as one.
We...
Empty houses
I write this one Saturday in February, on a week when the crime stories have forced their way into the daily seven-o’clock newscasts in spite of the impeachment of the Chief Justice. This is Manila, where priests promise love and success and jobs overseas to the souls who touch the cross of the Black Nazarene.
The sun burns hot here, melts the skin off electric posts and strikes bright white...

When I was still teaching in the University of the Philippines Los Baños, I used to tell my students the story about how I met a stranger on a bus, as an example of an autobiographical report. Semester after semester, the reactions I got were always the same: kilig. Here goes:
It was a Monday night. I boarded an HM bus in Cubao after my evening class...

The whole time we were there nakaupo ka lang nang tahimik.
Konting kwento. Sabi niya, sabay turo sa kinauupuan kong mahaba at kahoy na upuan,...

He stands on the steps of the Supreme Court, dressed in black, surrounded by a crowd of supporters chanting his name.
I love you too, says Chief Justice Renato Corona.
The Chief Justice is arrogant. Perhaps arrogance is necessary to become the man whose business is truth, but he is a brave man as well. He has chosen to stand against a President who has the power to diminish the Judiciary. If...

Message to Noli from Mr. PhD
I protect my female friends from fishers. If we are allowed to voice our opinions and so to make judgments, whether correct or not.” ...
Women, From A Guy Who Loves One
by Akoposijayson
Mula sa chart ng human reproductive organs, na madalas idikit sa blackboard ng iyong Biology teacher, hanggang sa signage ng mga public comfort rooms, men and women are always portrayed as the same kind, but light years apart when it comes to similarity. Halos pareho pero sobrang mag-kaiba. Anlabo ba? Kasi tignan mo:
(a) Parehas kayong tao, parehas kayo ng nationality,...
Pulitika. Pilipino. Pilipinas.
Feeling Ko: A Guide If He's Straight
Until 1am kasama ko si Kuya Rocky sa SB UN. From 5pm-1am isang kaso lang natapos kong mabasa (dinaldal niya kasi ako ng dinaldal). I am such a loser.
Buti na lang we had a good conversation. Having millions of PhD’s I’ve learned so much from him. Iba talaga mag-isip at magrason ang mga psyc at philo people.

Chinat mo ko. You’re asking a favor. Gusto mong magbigay ng gift kay Des. Thru me. Kumbaga extension. Pwedeng lumusot ang idea. I thought simpleng regalo lang. Dress lang nabanggit mo sa chat. Okay. In fairness may bago ka...

IT may not have been a really disappointing year but it was neither exactly the year we dreamt of. After the raised expectations of 2010, the year 2011 just seemed to get worse the further it went on. War raged on. Crimes continued to be committed with impunity. Strong winds blew with ferocity, and rains fell, triggering deadly floods. And bad things just kept happening due to either human...

MRT diary
You can meet a lot of people in public markets, but you can be too preoccupied to even notice them. You might encounter a number of strangers in a jampacked bus, but you can barely see their faces. You can be seated inside a jeepney with more than a dozen other people, but the noise, heat, and pollution are a big distraction. It is only in the MRT that you can read people’s faces and know...
We really do not need others to tell us what we can do. We have the power to start something that can change even just our small corner of the world. Every scene that is played out in front of our eyes is an opportunity to let the hero inside of us out. We have within us the power to bring positive changes in the lives of others. Yes, we are the change. So let us be.

I think one dose of youngblood entry would be enough for a day’s inspiration. Nagstart ito, as far as I can remember, 1993 0r 1994. I bought the three compilations of these articles. Paulit-ulit ko ring binabasa. I shared the books to Claire and Emae. Second best
Is it everyone’s dream to be No. 1?
Honestly, I don’t know.
All my life I can remember only three instances when I landed on the first spot. The first came during grade school when I bested the whole class in our spelling contest. It was not a big event, just a class exercise, but I really felt proud of my accomplishment. I got the right spelling of the word “school.”
The second time I...

One day I hope to meet an imperfect man who will seem perfect to me from time to time.
He will not be the best I have ever met, but he will be great when I need him to be. He will hold my hand when we cross the street and make sure I stay on the safe side of the road. He will kiss me goodnight before I go to sleep, and he will...

I was born into a family that leaves unspoken some meaningful words like “Thank you,” “I love you” and even “Happy birthday!” Our father, a strict disciplinarian, probably had much to do with it. We have distanced ourselves from everything sweet, mushy and cuddly. But still our home is filled with the familiar noise of a typical...

I remember a question similar to this and of course my basis for drafting the question. The Q and A in the Mr. and Ms. Medicine in 2009.
As a doctor, you would be sent to Maguindanao, how would you comfort the families of the victims of the Maguindanao Massacre?
The question was quite difficult. And I am expecting so much from the contestants knowing that they are would-be doctors.
The winning...
